Tragédie

This is an exceptionally important message, which I think deserves thirty minutes of your time.

A lot of things will change this year & we have the power to make that happen.  All it takes is a little awareness.

Love Affair

Unfortunately Ben died this Christmas night.  It's such a sad & touching story.  He was so young & sweet looking.

Battle of The Sexes

I've come to the conclusion that dating & I are not compatible.  I've been on three dates since I moved to the coast, NINE months ago!  The first taught me that there is not one suitable suitor living in this part of the country.  The second taught me that guys in bands are definitely not suitable love interests, unless you want to feel used, abused & foolish.  Finally the third taught me that if you have to convince a guy to go on a date with you, he's probably not gonna be Mr Right.

So yes, my dating experiences have been rather educational, if not entirely disappointing.  However, I think it's time to take all these valuable lessons on board & actually do something with them.  First things first I am a HUNDY percent taking myself out of the dating game.  I think some space between myself & the cattle market is definitely a good idea.

Now is the time to work on another area of my life: my career but of course!  Hence my appointment with a recruitment agency in London next week.  Yes mes amis, I am finally attempting to become a hoefessional & earn some real dollar.  No more of this part-time shizzle.  The particular recruiter I am seeing has managed to get two of mes amis jobs in Mayfair, so one is hopeful.

Is it wrong that my main concern is my working wardrobe & what I'm going to wear to the interview?  (I can pull leather leggings, right?)  I have had to come to terms with the fact that 6am starts will be a massive factor.  Crucial beauty sleep may be depleted & time spent in the mirror may take a battering.  Although, I guess there is always the hour & a half train ride to sort these things out.  [yawn]

Working in London will at least afford me an improved social life.  Cocktails anyone!?  Anyway, I've got to earn some bigger bucks, 'cause I gotta finally get me one of these babies:

♡  Love you Michael Kors!  ♡

Love Affair

I love love love Rachel Zoe & Rodger Berman!!!  Now they have spawn they are officially the hottest family...EVER!!!

These folks are my role models.  When I'm thirty & am officially an adult who contemplates such things as marriage & procreation, I shall look to these two for style inspiration.

Plus they're Jews & I love me some Jews.

As day breaks & in shines the light

So one of our family friends is currently living out in China at the moment (as you do) & through the powers of Facebook Homepage, I saw a pic she posted which blew my mind!

[Please note, this is not the actual picture.  The actual picture was WAY better than this, but FB has made it uber difficult to pinch pics now.  Gay.]

I was like "Holy guacamole!!!"  This shiz is craZy!!!  Here's me using my Garnier Summer Body to get myself as dark as humanly possible (note that's dark, not orange!) & you've got the Chinese trying to get as white as humanly possible!

I know that in many cultures paler skin is considered beautiful & that sometimes you can be considered from a lower caste if your skin is deemed as too dark.  But it makes you think doesn't it, how one culture can feel so strongly about something & another culture can have completely opposing views.

Neither is of course right or wrong, it's simply the society we've been brought up in.  I think I'd still rather be tanned.

Improvement Required. Apply Within.

The Coke obsession has got out of hand...

I'm not exactly helping myself.  It is nearly four weeks until Ellie & I depart for La Grande Aventure!!!  I need to be svelte, tanned & matchstick thighs by the 25th of June.  Bikinis, skirts, shorts, 30° heat...I'm so not prepared for this.  [looking rather concerened]

Currently the weather is cold & wet, which is not inspiring me to consume salads & go for thigh shrinking walks.  All I care for is chocolate, Coke, my oversized Lux grey granddad cardi, Toast cashmere bed socks & visual entertainment.  Anything healthy need not apply.

"Dear God, I would like to request the delivery of some sunshine, heat included & some much needed enthusiasm.  Grazie.  AMEN!"

Love Affair

Is it wrong that I have a love affair with the homeless?  Since I met that homeless guy in Shoreditch the other week, I can't help but feel completely enamoured by them.  They always seem so happy & hopeful, despite their obvious lacking of material possession & general security in life.  Maybe there is more to life after all!?

This hobo in Miami has invented a flippable sign for passers by.  Ingenious!  Peeps like this deserve so much more in life.

Love Affair

Each day week, I seem to discover someone/something new & begin a full blown love affair with them/it.  Unfortunately, due to my short attention span, this love affair is often brief, however my current crush is model Freja Beha Erichsen.

Obviously she is ama-ziiing looking, all cheekbones & matchstick legs, but the real reason for my crunching is her love affair with tattoos.  If there is one thing I love & shall most likely always love, it is tattoos & I'm liking hers muchos.  It's making me want new ink STAT!

Julia Roberts is looking AMA-ZIIING in this photot shoot for W magazine!!!
Girlfriend just does not age!  Definitely one of my tip top favourite stars EVER!

An Education

Last night I finally got to see An Education, starring Carey Mulligan, Peter Sarsgaard, Dominic Cooper & Rosamund Pike.  It's an intensely stylised drama set in Twickenham in 1961, based around 16 year old Jenny (Carey Mulligan), whose aspirations of going to Oxford are scuppered when an older man takes an interest in her.

The film carries nearly as much stylistic weight as A Single Man, which is of course what drew me to it, not to mention the jaunt to Paris midway through.  I also not only liked Jenny, but felt actually enamoured of her.  I could relate to her plight, to do something more with her life, other than study, study, study & then work, work, work.

As Jenny puts it: "Studying is hard & boring. Teaching is hard & boring. So, what you're telling me is to be bored, & then bored, and finally bored again, but this time for the rest of my life? This whole stupid country is bored! There's no life in it, or colour, or fun! It's probably just as well the Russians are going to drop a nuclear bomb on us any day now. So my choice is to do something hard & boring, or to marry my... Jew, & go to Paris & Rome & listen to jazz, & read, & eat good food in nice restaurants, & have fun! It's not enough to educate us anymore Ms. Walters. You've got to tell us why you're doing it."

Her whirlwind affair with the nearly twice her age David (Peter Sarsgaard), made me feel a combination of hopefulness & loneliness, which was thrown into despair by the end of it.  [Attempting not to give any spoilers]  It was the openness to something wonderful & then the realisation that perhaps not all is as it seems & maybe things were too good to be true after all.

Regardless of the outcome, I felt drawn to this plot like a moth to a rather beautiful & cryptic flame.  With quotes like "If you never do anything, you never become anyone", this film has inspired me to radically rethink my outlook on life, in a 'grab it by the balls' kind of way & I like that!

I shall also now be take up smoking, drinking coffee & having illicit affairs!  Tout parfait!

Cash for Cancer: UPDATE!

So my friend Christian (seen in green) finally did his skydive yesterday.  He said it was amazing & has essentially cured him of his fear of heights.  I have to say, I am really rather jealous now, as I reeeally want to do it!

He managed to raise £549.00 for Hospice In The Weald & gain a new hobby.  Not bad for a Sunday!

Well done Christian & thank you to everyone that donated!

Muy Apreciada!

I think I'm essentially in love with Nicole Richie.  [sigh]
