One Hundred Years In Ten Minutes

This is like a history lesson compressed into a short ten minute watch.

I think the running theme here is...war!

Let's hope 2012 is full of happy events, rather than disastrous ones.

1.9.11

Battle of The Sexes

I've come to the conclusion that dating & I are not compatible.  I've been on three dates since I moved to the coast, NINE months ago!  The first taught me that there is not one suitable suitor living in this part of the country.  The second taught me that guys in bands are definitely not suitable love interests, unless you want to feel used, abused & foolish.  Finally the third taught me that if you have to convince a guy to go on a date with you, he's probably not gonna be Mr Right.

So yes, my dating experiences have been rather educational, if not entirely disappointing.  However, I think it's time to take all these valuable lessons on board & actually do something with them.  First things first I am a HUNDY percent taking myself out of the dating game.  I think some space between myself & the cattle market is definitely a good idea.

Now is the time to work on another area of my life: my career but of course!  Hence my appointment with a recruitment agency in London next week.  Yes mes amis, I am finally attempting to become a hoefessional & earn some real dollar.  No more of this part-time shizzle.  The particular recruiter I am seeing has managed to get two of mes amis jobs in Mayfair, so one is hopeful.

Is it wrong that my main concern is my working wardrobe & what I'm going to wear to the interview?  (I can pull leather leggings, right?)  I have had to come to terms with the fact that 6am starts will be a massive factor.  Crucial beauty sleep may be depleted & time spent in the mirror may take a battering.  Although, I guess there is always the hour & a half train ride to sort these things out.  [yawn]

Working in London will at least afford me an improved social life.  Cocktails anyone!?  Anyway, I've got to earn some bigger bucks, 'cause I gotta finally get me one of these babies:

♡  Love you Michael Kors!  ♡

Thinking Of You

Hurricane Irene is currently ravaging America's East Coast & quietly tucked away in North Carolina (alright, maybe not so quietly) is my Aunty Ali & her famille.

According to Facebook they are safe but without power...Although clearly reception on her Blackberry is still going strong!

According to the newspapers, three people have been reported dead in North Carolina.

Keep safe Hoods!

Thinking of you.

Quote Of The Day

"It has been my philosophy of life that difficulties vanish when faced boldly."  Isaac Asimov

I would like to address the individual known only as 'anonymous'; Should you think me such a c**t & my blog so outrageously uninteresting, then why do you insist on spending your precious time reading it & commenting on it?

Perhaps your time would be better spent reading something you actually enjoy, rather than critiquing something you don't.

Just a thought.

Bereft!

The day finally came.  This morning I finally took the scissors into my own hands & snipped off my precious festival wristbands.  I honestly feel bereft, if not a little cleaner...

Sad times.

Talking of festivals; I just heard the horrific news that a stage collapsed tonight over at Pukkelpop in Belgium!  Three people dead & seventy injured!  Tragic.

Every year I'm not there, something awful occurs.  I should return next year for fear of further tragedy!

13.6.11

Evil's my name, Evil's my game...

It appears I have become the new Dick Dastardly!

Honest folks, I'm not as evil as I appear!

[innocent face on]

I simply saw the IOW picture of Francois & had instantaneous images of peens appear in my mind!

I thought it was essential to mock up the previously submitted peen picture.

If you are offended (Francois especially), I shall remove said art work.

Credit where credit's due...

Before I get lambasted again, I want to post a piece on this punk ass bitch, Ellie Dunn.  Without her my musikal knowledge wouldn't be as broad as it is & my life wouldn't be as colourful.  I remember the days when we were drinking working in LA & she brought to my attention, both the hawtness & the talent of an as yet unknown Calvin Harris, who we later stalked around London.

Without her I wouldn't have the kick ass beats of Uffie & would never have inadvertently found the talents of Tiger Love & met the man crush (although, that might have been for the best).  Even Yummy Bingham's Come Get It On would have been lost!

Without Miss Dunn I wouldn't be looking forward to sunning myself on the beach (in a top secret location) listening to the likes of Breakbot spinning some wayward tracks.  Hell, I wouldn't even know who Breakbot was!

So Eleanor Dunn, I just wanted to say, I appreciate your cranked out craZiness in my life.  The musik you bring to me is always greatly appreciated, even if I do turn my nose up at it first time round...This is me giving you full kudos!  Suck it up bitch!

Incroyable!

A Chilean volcano has erupted for the first time in fifty years, throwing ash six miles into the sky!  The ski resort of San Carlos de Bariloche, in neighbouring Argentina, has been smothered in ash, forcing them to close their airport.  Oooh, it's like the beginning of the end mon amis, with all these eruptions & earthquakes!

Although nature may be exceptionally destructive at times, it isn't half b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l!  These snaps of the event are somewhat reminiscent of Christopher Kane's Galaxy Prints.  Thoughts?

5.6.11

What the Jeffries!?

This four year old Australian girl, named Aelita Andre, is creating 'art' that is now being compared to the likes of Pollock & Picasso!  I kid you not!  I read the article on her & was like, what the Jeffries!?  She's even got an exhibition at the Agora Gallery in New York, which opens tomorrow.  She is four years old for crying out loud!

Aelita has been painting since she was eleven months old & sold her first piece at two years old.  Her work goes for $5,000/$10,000, but her latest piece (second picture down) recently sold for...Wait for it...$24,000!!!  She's FOUR!  A chinese buyer shelled out the dollar for it & now she's pretty much demanding that for all her work.  Well, I say she is, I expect her folks are, as they roll around on $100 bills.

Okay, so art is only really worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, but seriously, I could knock this shiz up!  Heck, I might go invest in some canvas & acrylics right now!

Public Service Announcement!

Oh yes, the full length video for, my sweet lil ginger biscuit, Nicola Roberts' new single Beat Of My Drum is OUT!!!

I cannot get the bastard thing on here for some unknown reason.  Urgh.  However go HERE & watch it for yourself!

I'm not gonna lie, although I ought to, I secretly (obvs, not so secretly) LOVE it!  Oooh yeah!

P to the S.  Don't you think the chorus would so fit into an Apple ad???  Wait, is it featured on an ad already???  Answers on a postcard sil vous plait!

Merci.

Cash for Cancer: UPDATE!

So my friend Christian (seen in green) finally did his skydive yesterday.  He said it was amazing & has essentially cured him of his fear of heights.  I have to say, I am really rather jealous now, as I reeeally want to do it!

He managed to raise £549.00 for Hospice In The Weald & gain a new hobby.  Not bad for a Sunday!

Well done Christian & thank you to everyone that donated!

Muy Apreciada!

Public Service Announcement

I have taken my great obsession, of taking photos of pretty much every meal I consume, & thrown it into its own space:  Mangiamo!

So if you get peckish, feel free to pop over & take a perusal.

Being a foodie is exceptionally hard when being faced with a diet.  So, I apologise in advance for all the salads!

Joyeux Anniversaire
Ellie!

Today is Ellie's 22nd birthday!  Wooop Wooop!  Unfortunately, as the lamo decaprio I am, I am too impoverished to attend her birthday drinks, in her home town of Brighton.  However, I would like her to know I love her very very very much (in a totally non-lesbianic way) & I know that all my hibernation will be worth it when we're cruising round France & shizzle, this summer.

Hope you have a great day anyway lover & I shall make it up to you très soon!

P.S. Mr Pig sends his love.

For all those English roses

Oui Je t'aime Aussi has been running since the beginning of December 2010, when in the gap between being unemployed & moving house, town, life, I finally decided to start up a blog once more.  To express to the world my likes & dislikes, a few loves & to generally annoy people, in that way in which I seemingly do.

In these short few months we have gained readers in thirty seven countries all over the world(!) & today marks our 100th post!  Hoooplar!

Although my dreams revolve around the Parisienne world, I am a proud English girl.  We Brits may have an atrocious Government, a dwindling economy & the misfortune to have bred The Chav, but we also have a stunning countryside, old skool manors & some of the best designers the world has to offer.

To show some of this, I provide you with the following examples:

Barbour Ladies Flyweight Tartan Beadnell Jacket
£179.95

The Barbour jacket.  De rigueur for the quintessential lady of the manor.

Mulberry Small Clipper
£1016

There is nothing that makes me more proud to be british than Mulberry.  Their bags fill my little heart with bubbles of joy & happiness.  I have wanted to purchase a small weekend bag for quite some time & this is my current crush.

Burberry Prorsum Trench Coat
£1700

Ah Burberry.  This luxury English fashion house has been creating beautiful designs for over one hundred years.  It has suffered at the hands of chavs in its time, but nothing says classic more than the Burberry Trench Coat.  Lately it's been jazzy jeffed up, with the addition of leather & studded sleeves.  The price tag is a little steep, but I did hear on the grape vine that Topshop are doing a snazzy lil number very similar.

Hunter & Jimmy Choo
£255.00

Hunter Wellingtons, as favoured by her Majesty the Queen.  These boots really were made for walking & festivals & well, pretty much for everything these days.  The classic boot has had a bit of a revival of late, mostly thanks to Miss Moss wearing a black pair at Glastonbury one year.  I myself favour the classic & original Green, however, my head has been turned by Hunter's recent cosy-up to Jimmy Choo.  Unfortunately I think Ellie got there first.  Damn!

The one & only Mr Darcy: Colin Firth.  Not only has he recently won an Oscar for Best Actor in The Kings Speech, but he's also darn hawt & most importantly grown on British soil, not from import.  I fell in love with him in Bridget Jones' Diary (my secret shame), but it was cemented when I saw him in the stunning film A Single Man.  Truly the most stylish film...EVER!

So you see, despite some of the tosh we have here in Angleterre, you can't really deny the talent & beauty we have too.  Country manors, old English gents with their old English sensibilities, country walks with our dogs & of course, should you head further into the murkiness of the city, you shall be welcomed by all walks of fashion life in good ol' London town.

I would like to thank all visitors to Oui Je t'aime Aussi, without you, I would really just be boring myself!  I greatly appreciate all comments (feedback is always helpful) & anyone that chooses to follow the blog, either with a Google Account or through Bloglovin, as this makes me muchos happy.  [big smile on face]

Q&A

My fellow blogger Jillian, over at the wonderful cornflake dreams, has requested that I complete the following Q&A.  So, y'know, I have!

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
BBQ in my (soon to be) beautiful garden, with Pimms, friends & the Pig.  Oh & a bit of sunshine is always a requirement for happiness.

What is your greatest fear?
Never accomplishing anything!

Which figures do you most identify with?
Individuals who go against the grain, regardless of the general consensus that they're mad or foolish.  Believing in yourself is the important thing.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
My extreme laziness!

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
People's inability to be themselves.  Those that consistently try to be something they'e not just to fit in or gain acceptance or approval only serve to drive me up the wall!

What do you most value in your friends?
Loyalty, honesty & respect.

What words or phrases do you most overuse?
I'll risk it for a biscuit.  True Story.  Not gonna lie.

What is your favorite journey?
When I travelled to Hasselt in Belgium for Pukkelpop (music festival).  It involved an early start, a car journey, few hours on the Eurostar, a further four hour train journey & a short walk, with my weekend bag, sleeping bag & tent.  Worth every hassle incurred.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
They say patience is a virtue.  But perhaps sometimes it's good to be impatient.  Why wait!

What is your favorite occupation?
Writers.  Mainly because I want to be one!

What do you dislike most about your appearance?
My ever growing thighs!

What is your greatest regret?
Sometimes I feel I have too many to mention.  However, should I actually have the ability to change things, I don't suppose I would, as it might greatly change the present in ways in which I may then regret!

What or who is the greatest love of your life?
Mr Pig.  I couldn't love someone more!

Where and when were you happiest?
Fishing down at the river with my friends, in my jelly shoes when I was 10.  Simplicity at its best!

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My inane laziness.  If I weren't so lazy I'd have accomplished SO much more in my life!  [sigh]

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
Leaving home.  I was starting to consider the possibility it might never happen, but I finally did it.  Even though I did move back home seven months later.  We'll just gloss over that part shall we.

What is your most treasured possession?
My MacBook Pro & my iPhone.  Both hold my entire life & I would be lost without either.  I'd also say my photographs, as I lost all my childhood photos a few years ago, which was devastating.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
When life seems impossible & you feel unable to go on.

Where would you like to live?
In a bijou apartment in the heart of Paris.  [sigh]  Well, I can dream...

What is your most marked characteristic?
Inability to stop talking & become exceptionally high-pitched when excited.

What is your greatest extravagance?
I'd have to say food.  I have an inability to stop spending money on copious amounts of food!

What are the qualities you most like in a man?
An original sense of style, dark humour, the ability to put up with me & my lunacy & a kind heart.  Also gotta love Mr Pig, but that's just standard.

Who are your favorite writers?
Eva Rice & Jill Mansell.

How would you like to die?
In the least painful way possible!

Who is your favorite hero of fiction?
I'm unconvinced I have one!

Who are your heroes in real life?
My dad, even though he's not with us anymore, he fought with cancer for ten years, just to be in our lives, providing us with love & protection.  I always thought he was a real-life superhero.

What is your motto?
Everything happens for a reason, even the shitty things, so have faith.

Public Service Announcement!

For some unknown reason, I seem unable to comment on my posts & those of others.  So if you have commented, thank you, but unfortunately, I am unable to comment back due to the fact that I am clearly an imbécile!

I really do appreciate all comments!  Honest to blog!
